As part of a series of webinars organised by the EIB’s technical assistance programme, Making Finance Work for Africa (MFW4A) and the IPC consortium, Horus and IECD organised a first webinar on strengthening portfolio management for banks in West and Central Africa in the context of the current crisis.
This webinar took place on 18 November 2020 and brought together banks and private sector actors to discuss proactive loan portfolio management in the current context. Mr. Celestin Mukeba Muntuabu, Managing Director of Equity Banque Commerciale du Congo shared the lessons learned over the last six months with regard to portfolio management, client segmentation but also the opportunities that may emerge from this crisis. Mr Victor Prevot from the German consultancy firm IPC – Internationale Projekt Consult GmbH completed the discussion by presenting operational tools to facilitate portfolio management, notably vintage analysis and portfolio migration analysis. Finally, Mr Martin Heimes, in charge of the financial sector at responsAbility Investments AG, provided the lender’s perspective, stressing the importance of relationships and communication between banks and their lenders.
